🏡 Victorian Property Re-Skim Completed in Potton

We've recently completed a full re-skim of a bedroom, hallway, stairs and stairwell in a beautiful Victorian property in Potton.

Older homes often present unique challenges, and this project was no exception. The walls were coated in old distemper paint, which can prevent new plaster from bonding properly if it's not treated correctly. Before any skimming could begin, we carefully prepared the surfaces and applied the appropriate primer to create a stable, secure base for the new plaster.

A wall with peeling paint and patches exposing the underlying surface, with a corner visible in a room with a plant in the bottom left and a piece of drywall in the bottom right.

Taking the time to prepare the background properly is essential for achieving a long-lasting, high-quality finish. Once prepared, we applied a fresh skim coat throughout the property, leaving smooth, modern walls and ceilings ready for decorating while respecting the character of this period home.

At A.Nicholls Plastering, we have experience working on both modern homes and older period properties across Potton, Biggleswade, Sandy, St Neots and the surrounding Bedfordshire villages.
